Recipe for making plain parathas

 Ingredients:

2 cups whole wheat flour (atta)

Water (for kneading)

Salt, to taste

Ghee or oil, for cooking

Instructions:

Kneading the Dough:

In a large mixing bowl, add the whole wheat flour and a pinch of salt.

Gradually add water and knead the dough until it becomes smooth and pliable. The dough should not be too stiff or too soft.

Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for about 15-20 minutes. This helps in making the parathas soft.

Divide and Roll:

Divide the dough into small lemon-sized balls.

Take one ball, dust it with flour, and roll it into a flat, round disc using a rolling pin. The thickness can be adjusted according to your preference.

Cooking:

Heat a tawa (griddle) or a flat pan on medium-high heat.

Place the rolled paratha on the hot tawa and cook until you see small bubbles forming on the surface.

Flip the paratha and spread some ghee or oil on the cooked side.

Cook the other side until both sides are golden brown and cooked through.

Repeat:

Repeat the process for the remaining dough balls.

Serve hot parathas with yogurt, pickles, or any curry of your choice.

If you want to make stuffed parathas, you can add a variety of fillings like spiced potatoes (aloo paratha), paneer (cottage cheese), or even spinach. Simply place the filling in the center of the rolled dough, seal it, and then roll it out again before cooking on the griddle.
